A private jet that took off from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport skidded off the end of the runway while landing at Chicago Executive Airport on Wednesday, the FAA confirmed. Crews across Maryland were called in on Tuesday afternoon to help battle a massive five-alarm fire that broke out in a reportedly vacant Baltimore building. Firefighters were called before 3:30 p.m., on Sept. 2, when there was a reported blaze in the area of North Howard Street and West Fayette Street, according to the fire department. A Virginia homeowner is picking up the pieces after a Fairfax County house fire tore through a Centreville home over the holiday weekend. First responders were called early on Sunday, Aug. 31 to a two-alarm fire that was reported at around 6 a.m. in the 15400 block of Meherrin Court, where they were met by flames showing from a home and smoke billowing through the air. A tractor-trailer took a hit from a train in Baltimore County — but somehow, nobody was hurt. Fire officials said crews rushed to the crossing at 68th Street and Lake Drive in Rosedale around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, after a collision between a freight train and a truck.
