Adult, Two Minors Displaced After Discarded Smoking Material Leads To Maryland Townhouse Fire
A family of three was displaced from their La Plata home when an accidental fire broke out when smoking materials were haphazardly discarded, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal. Members of the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a Patient Court home shortly after 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, for a reported fire on the outside of an area townhouse. Officials said that a team of 20 firefighters was able to quickly control the fire in five minutes, but it caused $5,000 in damages to the structure. Dozens of firefighters were on hand to help knock down an early morning fire that unexpectedly broke out in a Frederick County home and rapidly spread, displacing a family. A house fire was reported shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 12 in the 4200 block of Ed McClain Road in Monrovia inside a single-family home, according to officials. An unattended stovetop that was left inside a Maryland kitchen made a hot day even hotter as it caused $100,000 in damage to a single-family home in Dorchester County, state officials announced. Family Displaced After Blaze Breaks Out In Maryland Kitchen: Fire Marshal
A fast-moving kitchen fire in Maryland caused approximately $150,000 in damage before dozens of firefighters were able to knock down the flames and get the blaze under control.
