In Montgomery County, shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Pringer advised that a utility truck had wound up on the tracks in Rockville at the Randolph Road grade crossing.
Pringer said that the driver had left the scene before the truck was struck by the train, though it remains unclear why the truck was left on the tracks or who it belonged to.
No injuries were reported.
Electrical wires were also down on the track following the crash, according to Montgomery County police investigators.
The strike led to a portion of Randolph Road and Wyaconda Road being closed temporarily. CSX train traffic was also suspended during the crash investigation.
Officials said that the crash remains under investigation.
