Second Baltimore DPW Employee Dies While On Duty, Department Confirms
For the second time in three months, a member of the Baltimore City Department of Public Works has died on the job, authorities announced. Timothy Cartwell, a solid waste worker assigned to the Reedbird Sanitation Yard died on Friday morning after sustaining critical injuries while collecting trash in an alleyway in the 1800 block of Baker Street. Cartwell was rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he later died from his injuries, officials confirmed. A Maryland State Police helicopter came to the rescue of a 25-year-old construction worker across state lines in West Virginia after he took a fall off a roof. On Monday, Maryland State Police Aviation Command rescued a construction worker who fell two stories while working on a home in Hardy County in the Ashton Woods area. Contractor Airlifted To Hospital After Falling Out Of Truck, Into Foundation Of Maryland Home
A construction worker in Harford County suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to an area hospital after falling out of a truck and into the foundation of a home in Joppa. First responders were called before noon on Tuesday, Sept. 3 to the 1400 block of Philadelphia Road, where there was a reported injury at the construction site with a possibly unstable truck at the scene. A Baltimore City Department of Public Works crew member died on the job late on Friday afternoon, officials say. On Aug. 2, toward the end of his shift, Robert Silver II suffered a "medical situation" while riding in their truck that required immediate intervention in the Barclay neighborhood in Northeast Baltimore.
