A hunter who fell out of a tree stand in West Virginia required an assist from a Maryland State Police helicopter after suffering serious injuries. At approximately 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7, the state police Aviation Command was called to a remote area in a Grant County mountain, where there was a reported injured hunter who was in a tricky location. A Maryland State Police helicopter was required to rescue a hiker who was injured after slipping and falling from the top of a cliff onto the top of a train tunnel in Carroll County. Shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon, first responders were called to the area of Gaither Road and Railroad Avenue in Sykesville, where there was an injured hiker who fell approximately 20 feet down an embankment while walking in a wooded area. First responders in Maryland came to the rescue of a group of swimmers who found themselves in a perilous position on Sunday afternoon, officials say. Ten people were removed from the Potomac River by crews in Montgomery County and Fairfax County after they were stranded on an island and their kayak went rogue and floated downstream. Some lanes were closed following a crash in Montgomery County that left a vehicle on its side and two people trapped inside on Wednesday afternoon. A construction worker in Harford County suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to an area hospital after falling out of a truck and into the foundation of a home in Joppa. A young, non-verbal autistic child was rescued from a large lake at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park in Montgomery County. More than a dozen apartments were deemed uninhabitable in Howard County and a firefighter was injured when a blaze broke out early on Saturday morning.
