Repeat Strangler Admits To Assaulting Woman At Frederick County Hotel, Gets Time: Prosecutors A Maryland man who strangled a woman on the way to, then at a Frederick County hotel during a domestic dispute will spend years behind bars, authorities announced. Michael Anthony Simpson, 34, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree assault and violating a protective order and was sentenced to a combined 50 years with all but 10 years suspended.
