Two US Secret Service offers will not face charges who were involved in the fatal shooting of a teen near an ambassador’s residence in DC earlier this year, federal officials announced. Anton Black's Family Reaches $5 Million Settlement
Three small towns in Maryland will pay $5 million to the parents of 19-year-old Anton Black, who died during a 2018 police encounter, and must implement new policing policies and use-of-force training, following a two-year legal battle. The suit was filed against the towns of Greensboro, Ridgely and Centreville, along with the state medical examiner's office, two police officers and their two police chiefs. Body-Cam Footage Showing DC Police Officer With Knee, Elbow Across Suspect's Neck Released
Body-cam footage has been released as a part of an ongoing investigation into a DC officer's use of force. On June 29, an officer, who had just witnessed what looked like a drug transaction, chased after a man on foot and struggled with him to the ground, according to Metropolitan Police. Officers attempted to handcuff the man as he lay on his stomach and repeatedly asked him to spit out whatever drugs he hid in his mouth, according to the department's footage.
