Members of the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a Patient Court home shortly after 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, for a reported fire on the outside of an area townhouse. In Fruitland, more than two dozen firefighters responded to a Sharps Point Road home shortly before 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, when a fire broke out in a single-family residence, the state fire marshal announced.
