First responders were dispatched to UnWined on the Water on Plum Point Point Road in Elkton shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Friday, July 8, when alarms went off due to a blaze that broke out in the kitchen area of the building.
More than two dozen firefighters from the Singerly Volunteer Fire Company responded to the restaurant, with the flames reported under control within approximately 15 minutes, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.
It caused approximately $4,000 in damage, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the fire marshal noted, adding that “spontaneous combustible of laundered kitchen cleaning rags could not be ruled out.”
On Friday morning, the owners of UnWined on the Water advised that they will be opening as normal after the fire.
