Shortly before 4 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, a 20-foot by 20-foot wood-framed garage in the 2500 block of Liberty Road went up in flames, according to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal, though it remains unclear what caused it.
A crew of 20 firefighters from the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun took an estimated half-hour to get the flames under control, but the blaze caused approximately $20,000 in damage to the destroyed garage and the contents inside.
Officials noted that there were no smoke detectors or active sprinkler systems active or present in the garage.
No injuries were reported.
The cause and area of origin of the fire remain under investigation by the fire marshal.
