A homicide investigation is underway after a state prison inmate was killed at Jessup Correctional Institute in Anne Arundel County, according to Maryland State Police. Warren Michael Griffin, 61, was pronounced dead by medical staff at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center after the incident, police said Tuesday, Feb. 25. Griffin had been serving time at the Jessup facility on an assault charge, according to court documents, when he was killed. The 23-year-old man who sexually assaulted a young girl on multiple occasions in Charles County is heading to prison, according to the state's attorney. Indian Head resident Daevian Davon Christian Hurd was sentenced by a judge to five years in prison after pleading guilty nearly a year ago to the sexual abuse of a minor.
