Two people were killed in a crash involving a pick-up truck and mobile crane that shut down in Baltimore County on Wednesday afternoon. Shortly after 2 p.m. on Oct. 23, Maryland State Police troopers were called to the northbound lanes of the interstate in Sparks Glencoe when the pick-up hauling a trailer was traveling southbound on I-83 when for unknown reasons, lost control, crossed over into the northbound lanes, and struck a mobile crane. A 26-year-old man affectionately known as "Porky" has been identified by police as the man gunned down in Southern Maryland overnight. Cambridge resident Virgil Simms was pronounced dead at the scene by Maryland State Police investigators on Sunday night in the 600 block of Pine Street, officials say. A woman who allegedly ran down a man she was involved in an ongoing relationship with in St. Mary's County during a disagreement is facing murder and other charges following an investigation by Maryland State Police.
