A Maryland State Police helicopter was required to rescue a hiker who was injured after slipping and falling from the top of a cliff onto the top of a train tunnel in Carroll County. Shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon, first responders were called to the area of Gaither Road and Railroad Avenue in Sykesville, where there was an injured hiker who fell approximately 20 feet down an embankment while walking in a wooded area. First responders in Maryland came to the rescue of a group of swimmers who found themselves in a perilous position on Sunday afternoon, officials say. Ten people were removed from the Potomac River by crews in Montgomery County and Fairfax County after they were stranded on an island and their kayak went rogue and floated downstream. A construction worker in Harford County suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to an area hospital after falling out of a truck and into the foundation of a home in Joppa. Maryland Firefighters Free Man Stuck In Someone Else's Chimney
Firefighters in Maryland removed a man stuck in a chimney that apparently wasn't even his own. Crews in Silver Spring spent about 90 minutes working to methodically remove a wall and bricks from the interior of a house, and get to the man, firefighters said on Facebook. The man "was not authorized to be there" and got himself stuck in the chimney. He was extricated and transported to an area hospital.
