Prosecutors have dropped charges against 41-year-old Adnan Syed after a judge vacated his sentence for the 1999 killing of Hae Min Lee after it was ruled that the state violated a legal obligation to provide critical evidence that could have helped Syed's defense, reports WTOP. The family of Hae Min Lee has announced that they are intending to file an appeal against a judge's recent ruling releasing Adnan Syed from prison after the Baltimore State's Attorney's Office filed a motion to vacate Syed's conviction and grant him a new trial following the discovery of new evidence, reports Fox Baltimore. A Trenton ex-con who'd been free all of a month when he threatened a woman with a gun -- after serving time in connection with a killing -- is headed to federal prison for nine years.
