Bethesda resident Ivonne Zhou who studied biology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill made the most of her time on the quiz show, missing out on a monumental upset by a mere one dollar. Dies After Battle With Recurrent Brain Cancer, 42
Maryland is in mourning for Michael John Buckhout-White, a devoted father of two who died following a brave battle with recurrent brain cancer on Friday, Dec. 29. He was 42. Born in Silver Spring, Michael attended Montgomery Blair High School, where he was a drummer in jazz band before his graduation in 1999, his obituary says. He then earned an AA with a certificate in Computer Graphics from Montgomery College and transferred to UMBC before earning a BA in Digital and Imaging Arts. A child responsible for multiple bomb threats targeting schools in Montgomery County has been identified, according to police. This month, administrators received emailed threats targeting Montgomery Blair High School on five separate occasions, as well as Oak View Elementary School and Silver Spring International School, forcing multiple lockdowns and evacuations of students and staff. Police have identified a 16-year-old boy who was shot and killed in Prince George's County earlier this week. Montgomery Blair High School student Kevin Ruiz Campos and a second man were shot near an apartment building on Riggs Road on Wednesday, June 14, according to a Prince George's County Police spokesperson.
