An investigation was launched at 2:05 p.m. on Oct. 23, when a passerby called 911 after spotting a grown man getting on the bus in the 4100 block of Suitland Road, which was occupied by three elementary school students.

Officers were dispatched and stopped the bus at 2:09 p.m., when they determined the students were all safe; however, the man who was seen getting into the bus was no longer on board.

The preliminary investigation determined that the driver picked the man up and drove him to DC with the students on board before returning to the county.

According to investigators from the Prince George's County Police Department, they believe the driver knew the man, and may possibly be related to him.

It was further determined that the suspect was involved in a physical dispute in the 3900 block of Suitland Road before getting on the bus.

Investigators say that it appears the man may have been armed with a gun during the dispute, but did not bring it onto the bus. A weapon was later recovered on Suitland Road.

As of Wednesday afternoon, police say that officers are working to locate the man who was driven to DC.

The investigation is ongoing.
