Major Winter Storm Triggers Thousands Of Flight Delays, Cancellations A powerful winter storm sweeping into the Northeast has thrown air travel into chaos, forcing airlines to cancel more than 1,300 flights and delay over 4,200 flights by early afternoon Friday, Dec. 26. The hardest-hit airports are in the New York tristate area, where heavy snow is forecast to reach up to 10 inches in some locations. John F.
