A police sergeant in Virginia has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest for alleged sexual battery, authorities announced. Fairfax County Police Sgt. Matthew Sylvester, 40, a 16-year veteran of the department assigned to the Internal Affairs Bureau, was taken into custody following incidents involving victims he reportedly knew. A knife-wielding Maryland man was shot and killed by police in DC after charging at officers during a domestic call, investigators said. Jonathan Boruch, 31, of North Bethesda, was pronounced dead on Tuesday, Sept. 16, after the confrontation on the 5100 block of Sherier Place NW, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The deadly incident began around 10:53 a.m. when victims told police that Boruch was headed to their home and had threatened to damage vehicles. A DC detective has been placed on administrative leave after shooting a man during a fight that broke out following an early morning crash on Saturday, authorities said. Metropolitan Police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 1800 block of Potomac Avenue SE just before 1 a.m. on March 1, officials said. Police said the off-duty detective had been involved in a crash before the situation escalated. After both drivers got out of their vehicles, a fight broke out, police said.
