Memorial Day Madness: 59 DUI Arrests, 7 Dead On Virginia Roads Over Holiday Weekend, VSP Says
Seven people were killed in seven separate crashes on Virginia roads over the Memorial Day weekend, according to state police.
The deadly crashes happened between Friday and Monday in Appomattox, Botetourt, Henrico, Isle of Wight, Mecklenburg, and Pittsylvania counties, as well as the City of Roanoke, Virginia State Police announced Tuesday.
And while this year’s holiday death toll was lower than last Memorial Day weekend, troopers still spent the long weekend pulling over thousands of drivers across the Commonwealth.

Passenger Called 911 After Alleged Drunk Driving Crash In Virginia, Sheriff Says
A late-night crash in Stafford County landed a Fredericksburg man behind bars after deputies say he was drunk, had open alcohol containers next to the wrecked vehicle, and seriously injured his passenger.
Cristhiam Henriquez, 25, was arrested shortly after 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, following the crash on Pine View Drive, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
The call actually came from the passenger.
Deputies were told the caller had been hurt in the wreck, and when Deputy Kehoe arrived, investigators say Henriquez had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol.
