Kinsley Parks, of Crisfield, was airlifted to a hospital after the crash on Wednesday, Feb. 26, but succumbed to her injuries the following day, according to Maryland State Police.
Troopers responded around 7:50 a.m. to the intersection of Route 13 and Stockyard Road in Eden, where Parks had been riding in a 2020 Hyundai Elantra driven by her father, 30-year-old Jalen Scott Evans of Crisfield.
According to police, Evans was attempting to turn left onto Stockyard Road from northbound Route 13 when his car was struck by a 2020 Mazda 3, driven by 45-year-old Ricky Leslie Lavere Jr., also of Crisfield.
The Mazda struck the rear passenger side of the Hyundai, where Parks was sitting in a child safety seat, officials said.
She was airlifted to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury before being transferred to Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware, where she was pronounced dead on Thursday, Feb. 27.
Her father was also taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation as authorities work to determine the cause of the crash.
