Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Field After Engine Issue: VSP (Updated)

First responders were called to a reported small plane crash in Virginia late on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to a plane crash in the area of Chancellor Road and Scarlet Oak Road shortly after 3 p.m. on April 9 to investigate the crash, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

The initial call came in at approximately 3:08 p.m. after the plane took off from Leesburg en route to Hampton Roads, officials said.

Virginia State Police investigators have been called in to probe the incident and motorists have been advised to avoid the area.

According to state police, the pilot reported an oil pressure issue and attempted to make an emergency landing in a field.

There were two people on board at the time of the crash, according to police, both of whom were taken to Mary Washington Hospital with minor injuries.

The FAA and NTSB were notified.
