An ex-con from Washington DC has been convicted of shooting a transgender victim following a sexual act, federal authorities announced. Jerry Tyree, who has previous weapon and drug convictions in Maryland and the District, was found guilty by a Superior Court jury of aggravated assault while armed for shooting his victim in November last year in Northeast DC. The Maryland man who admitted to a motel rape earlier this year in Harford County, was handed a heavy prison term that exceeds the state's sentencing guidelines, prosecutors announced. The man who shot a Montgomery County Police officer more than two decades ago and left him paralyzed has been denied parole, according to officials.
