A collaborative law enforcement effort dismantled multiple illegal car rallies across Maryland on New Year’s Eve, leading to the arrests of three individuals, including one found with firearms, authorities said.
From 11 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2024, to 4 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025, the Maryland Car Rally Task Force (MCRTF) shut down four large-scale exhibition driving events and prevented another five from forming, authorities said.

A high-speed pursuit ended in dramatic fashion after a motorcycle rider crashed into a curb and was caught with a stolen bike in Calvert County, authorities said.
On Sunday, Dec. 8, shortly after 3:15 p.m. p.m., a corporal from the sheriff's office stopped two black sport-style motorcycles speeding southbound on Southern Maryland Boulevard near Town Center Boulevard in Dunkirk, according to police, but that was just the beginning of a long afternoon.
