Smith, of Greenbelt, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 5, leaving behind family and friends struggling to come to terms with the loss of a young man known for his warmth, kindness, and love for others.
"He brought so much joy and love into our lives, and his warmth touched everyone he met," his mother shared. "The love we have for him is immeasurable, and the love he showed to his family and friends will forever be cherished."
Hoping to honor Smith in a meaningful way, his family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses, with nearly $18,000 raised toward their $20,000 goal as of Feb. 12 to provide Smith with a proper sendoff.
"We are deeply grateful for your kind contributions and donations that will help us honor our beloved son and grandson in a meaningful way," the Smith family said.
A message on Smith's obituary page invites those who knew him to share memories and condolences, celebrating a life that touched so many.
"The family is very close, but still in need of financial assistance to give their beloved son, brother, grandson, and nephew a proper going-home service," loved ones said.

"My sister lost her son unexpectedly and while me and my family deal with this loss," a loved one posted online. "Anything will help - even a simple share would be love ... Thank you to everyone who reached out to me and my family."
