A Maryland State Police helicopter was required to rescue a hiker who was injured after slipping and falling from the top of a cliff onto the top of a train tunnel in Carroll County. Shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon, first responders were called to the area of Gaither Road and Railroad Avenue in Sykesville, where there was an injured hiker who fell approximately 20 feet down an embankment while walking in a wooded area. A Maryland State Police trooper had to be airlifted to the hospital after being struck by suspects fleeing from sheriff's deputies during a police pursuit in Calvert County. A Maryland State Police trooper was among three injured during a crash in Wicomico on Monday, March 6, authorities announced.
