Late in the morning on Monday, May 27, officers were called to an apartment in the 1400 block of Newton Street NW, where there was an unconscious infant. 7-Month-Old Child's Death In Southeast DC Determined To Be A Homicide An infant's death has been ruled a homicide in Southeast DC, the Metropolitan Police Department announced on Wednesday afternoon. Shortly after 2:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, officers from the Seventh District were called to the 1300 block of Morris Road SE, where there were calls about an unconscious infant inside a home. Upon arrival, they found 7-month-old King Phelps, who was pronounced dead at the scene by DC Fire and EMS personnel after showing no signs of life.
