Some residents in Southeast DC got a scare on Monday morning when a person barricaded inside an apartment before being taken into custody, police say. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Emergency Response Team were called before noon to the 2800 block of Q Street SE on March 11 where there was a standoff involving a suspect inside one of the units. New details have been released by the Montgomery County Department of Police following a four-hour standoff inside an area department store. Armed with a knife, police say that Christopher Lawrence, 37, attempted to steal a watch from JC Penney at the Westfield Wheaton Mall, but was caught and wound up barricading himself inside of a fitting room, forcing an evacuation of the store while police worked to resolve the situation. Metropolitan Police Searching For Suspect Who Fired Shots At Officers In Southeast DC
The gunman who opened fire at Metropolitan Police officers in Southeast DC remains at large hours after a shooting outside an area apartment building. Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Friday night, officers responded to reports of gunshots that rang out in the 3400 block of 13th Place SE, prompting further investigation.
