Officer Hospitalized When Police Cruisers Crash In Maryland Intersection

A pair of police cruisers were accidentally involved in a crash near a busy Prince George's County intersection on Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, an alert was issued by the Hyattsville Police Department after two cruisers struck each other at the intersection of East-West Highway and Belcrest Road, officials say.

One officer suffered undisclosed injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation.

The cruisers have since been removed by tow trucks, according to the department after traffic was temporarily tied up.

It is unclear what caused the cruisers to crash.
