The sales account manager from Laurel was heading to work and had to pull into a nearby parking lot to make a phone call he’d previously forgotten; that’s when he saw it.

“I looked up and saw a Maryland Lottery sign right in front of me,” he tells officials.

He decided to walk into the store — 24/7 Convenience in Laurel — and pick out three 100X The Cash tickets for $20 a pop.

While the first two were losses, the third ticket turned out to be a lucky $1 million winner after he’d scratched just half of it.

“I sat there in the car shaking,” he said.

“I really had to grip the steering wheel just to make my hands stop. It was crazy…I couldn’t believe it was real.”

The man said he'll use his winnings to pay off bills and plan for retirement.

“Then, when that important stuff is covered, I’ll take a vacation,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at 24/7 Convenience at 7707 Old Sandy Spring Road in Laurel.
