Two people had to be rescued from the roofs of Frederick County buildings on Tuesday morning when a fire broke out and damaged a pair of restaurants downtown, officials say. Firefighters came to the aid of several family pets that found themselves in a perilous position when a Carroll County home went up in flames on Tuesday afternoon. A faulty extension cord is to blame for a Washington County fire that left a family displaced and destroyed a home in Hancock on Sunday afternoon, according to investigators.
