Fire crews in Maryland had to battle both the heat and a two-alarm blaze that tore through a Carroll County church on Thursday afternoon. Firefighters from multiple agencies were called shortly after 3 p.m. on Aug. 1 to the Clearfield Bible Church in Westminster, where a fire broke out and rapidly spread throughout the building, causing devastating damage. Community support is swelling for the mother and family of the 17-year-old who was gunned down at the Columbia Mall in Howard County over the weekend. Police were working to identify the man who was shot and killed in the Columbia Mall in Howard County Saturday, July 27. Police were called to the food court on reports of gunfire where they found 17-year-old Columbia resident Angelo Little dead at the scene around 6:10 p.m., they said. The suspects had left mall property when police arrived, however, there was no ongoing threat or danger to the public. More than a dozen apartments were deemed uninhabitable in Howard County and a firefighter was injured when a blaze broke out early on Saturday morning. At around 5:30 a.m. Howard County Fire and EMS crews were called to the 6000 block of Orchard Club Drive in Elkridge, where there was a reported fire in the area. The US Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed that a small earthquake could be felt in parts of Maryland on Tuesday morning.
