Young Mother Karina Amaya Of Germantown Dies Suddenly: 'Devastating'
A tight-knit Maryland family is mourning the devastating loss of Karina Elisabeth Amaya, a beloved mother of two who passed away unexpectedly, her family announced.
Amaya, of Germantown, was remembered as a caring and devoted daughter, parent, and fiancée. She is survived by her mother Lucy; her two young sons, Jeremiah, 6, and Adrian, 5; her fiancé Sean; and her grandmother Ana Maria, along with her father, uncles, and cousins, according to a GoFundMe launched for her family.

Many states in the Northeast are among the country's best in the fight against cancer, with Massachusetts, New York, and Maryland ranked as leaders, a new study said.
Massachusetts was ranked as the best state for cancer research, according to a SmileHub study released on Tuesday, Jan. 7. New York was just behind the Bay State in second place.
