A Maryland man out on release while awaiting trial for assault is back behind bars — this time, charged with attempted murder after a double stabbing in Mechanicsville, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office announced. Mark Anthony Cranston Jr., 38, was arrested Tuesday evening, July 15, after deputies were called around 5:50 p.m. in Mechanicsville for a reported assault.
