100+ MPH Chase Leads To Huge Drug Haul In Maryland: Sheriff

A deputy attempted to stop a vehicle speeding 82 mph in a 55-mph zone along Route 4 and Lower Marlboro Road in Huntingtown during an early morning patrol, according to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office.

Instead of stopping, the driver hit the gas, accelerating past 100 mph as deputies pursued the vehicle south through Prince Frederick.

Officers ultimately deployed stop sticks and performed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, successfully disabling the fleeing car.

The driver, Treasure Lee Muller, 41, of Glen Burnie, and passenger, Jaleal Terrence Balogun, 27, of Brooklyn Park, were removed from the vehicle, and as Muller stepped out, investigators said, a brown bottle of PCP and a $5 bill covered in a white powdery residue fell from her pocket.

That gave them probable cause to expand their search, investigators said.

A search of the vehicle revealed multiple electronics, several glass smoking devices, push rods used to pack drugs, bags of cocaine, 43 Buprenorphine strips, and a bottle of suspected Methadone, authorities said.

Deputies also searched Balogun, allegedly finding a capsule of crack cocaine in one sock, a baggie of crack in the other sock, and additional baggies of crack and heroin hidden in his underwear.

A glass vial of heroin pills was also recovered, according to officials.

Both Muller and Balogun were arrested and charged with:

  • CDS: Possession with intent to distribute (PCP);
  • CDS: Possession with intent to distribute;
  • CDS: Possession with intent narcotics;
  • CDS: Possession-not cannabis.

Muller was also hit with an additional charge of CDS: Possession of paraphernalia.
