Potential Monster In Making: Now A Hurricane, Melissa Is Heading North, Rapidly Intensifying
Hurricane Melissa has officially reached hurricane status, with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph as of Saturday, Oct. 25, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The storm is expected to undergo rapid intensification, potentially becoming a major hurricane by Sunday, Oct. 26.
Forecasters warn that Melissa could reach Category 5 strength as it approaches Jamaica early Tuesday, Oct. 28, bringing catastrophic impacts to the region.

50,000+ Lose Power In Maryland As Storms Pound Region, BGE Says
More than 50,000 residents in Maryland were without power on Thursday amid the ongoing storms rolling through the region.
Crews were working around the clock on June 19 to repair more than 800 active outages that were impacting nearly 55,000 customers, according to Baltimore Gas & Electric.

At Least 28 Killed As Severe Storms, Tornadoes Tear Through Central, Eastern US
A wave of severe weather has resulted in tragedy as multiple tornadoes swept across the central and eastern United States, claiming at least 28 lives, injuring dozens more, and leaving as many as a half-million without power.
The event unfolded late Friday, May 16, into Saturday, May 17, leaving a path of destruction across Missouri, Kentucky, and Virginia. Officials say the death toll could rise as they assessed the damage.
