Chesapeake Bach resident Stephen Louis Betz pleaded guilty this week to first-degree assault and reckless endangerment stemming from an incident that was reported in Owings last fall, authorities announced on Tuesday. A Maryland man who went out of state with the intention of sexually abusing a 6-year-old child has been indicted on federal charges, authorities announced. Bowie resident Nathaniel Lamar Nelson Scott, 35, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Wednesday charging him with traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct after traveling to DC with the purpose of engaging in illegal activity with the child. A man who allegedly shot and killed his brother following a dispute in April has been apprehended out of state and brought back to Maryland, police say. Baltimore resident Michael Conley, 34, has been arrested and charged in connection to the fatal shooting of Devon Thomas, 27, earlier this year. Shortly before 8 a.m. on April 11, officers from the Baltimore Police Department were called to the 3400 block of Spellman Road to investigate a shooting, where they found Thomas suffering from a gunshot wound. A Baltimore woman has been indicted by a Washington County grand jury in a 135-count indictment stemming from a years-long investigation by the Maryland Attorney General's Office into a human and sex trafficking ring, authorities announced.
