Man's Body Pulled From Western Mass. River Man's Body Pulled From Western Mass. River
Man's Body Pulled From Western Mass. River Police in Hampden County are investigating after they pulled the body of a man from a river in West Springfield earlier this week.  West Springfield police were alerted to a body around 2 p.m. on Friday, June 21, in the Westfield River. He was found in the area of Front Street near the fish ladder, police said in a Facebook post.  The man was dead when police arrived. Authorities have not released his name.  West Springfield police are investigating the incident, but officers do not believe foul play was involved.

Man Admits To Killing Child 58 Years Ago, Leaving Body In Western Mass River A 75-year-old man has admitted to beating a 10-year-old Hampden County girl with a rock and leaving her to drown in a river in Western Massachusetts.  Donald Mars, of Bedford, pleaded guilty Thursday, May 2, to manslaughter after he was indicted in the 1966 murder of Betty Lou Zukowski, the Hampden County District Attorney said. Arrest Made In 1966 Massachusetts Homicide Of 10-Year-Old Betty Lou Zukowski Authorities in Western Massachusetts have announced an arrest in connection with a 1966 homicide of a 10-year-old girl.  Donald Mars, age 73, of Bedford, was charged in connection with the death of Betty Lou Zukowski on Wednesday, Nov. 3, the Hampden County District Attorney's Office reports.  Betty Lou left her Chicopee home around 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 1966 after getting a call from one of her friends.
