It’s now against the law to cover your face in public in this New York county. On Long Island, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman signed the “Mask Transparency Act” into law during a ceremony held Wednesday morning, Aug. 14. Yale University Names Maurie McInnis As New President
The president of Long Island’s Stony Brook University has been selected to first permanent female president of Yale University. Maurie McInnis was named Yale’s 24th president in an announcement by the school. The 58-year-old cultural historian, currently serving as the president of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, graduated from Yale with a Ph.D in art history in 1996. In the years since her graduation, McInnis has served in senior positions at the University of Virginia and the University of Texas at Austin before moving to Stony Brook University in 2020. A group of people protesting the construction of a $90 million police training facility in Atlanta, dubbed "Copy City," were arrested for domestic terrorism as part of what has been called a "months-long escalation of policing tactics." 1,000 MA National Guard Troops Activated Ahead Of Protests
Gov. Charlie Baker has activated up to 1,000 National Guards in preparation to address social unrest. On Thursday, Sept. 24, Baker signed an order activating the troops and the Kentucky justice system cleared the officers involved in Breonna Taylor’s killing of all but one reckless endangerment charge.
