Covid-19: Where Are The Hot Spots? Town Trends, Rates - Worcester County (Aug.) Town COVID-19 positive test rates changed dramatically in Worcester County communities this past week with some of the biggest increases seen in Athol, Brookfield, and Fitchburg. Communities that saw the largest decline in positive test rates included Blackstone, Dudley, Leominster, and North Brookfield. Cases in Worcester and Spencer continue to steadily decrease. Athol’s 14-day positive COVID-19 infection rate went from 0 last week to 2.1 percent this week; 11 more people contracted the virus. Town Infection Rates, Trends - Worcester County, August Positive COVID-19 test rates continue to spike in North Brookfield and Brookfield, as Worcester’s rate gets closer to a high-point in July, according to the most recent information from the Baker Administration. Worcester’s positive test rate went from 2.2 percent last week to 2.5 percent this week - just shy of a July high point of 2.6.
