Police ID Worcester State Hoops Star, Father As Pedestrian Killed on I-290, GoFundMe Created Worcester police said identified the man who died in a hit-and-run crash along I-290 late Saturday night, Aug. 13, as a former star basketball star and father of a 4-year-old boy.  Jamal Mustapha, 27, was a standout player on the court at Doherty High School, where he graduated in 2013, reports said. Nicknamed Lucky Lefty, Mustapha played at UMass-Dartmouth for a season before he transferred to Worcester State University, where he played two seasons. IDs Released For Duo Killed In Rollover Crash On I-290 In Worcester Authorities have identified the Connecticut duo killed in a morning rollover crash on I-290 in Worcester as Luc Morin, age 65, and Christine Banavige, age 52, both of New Britain. They were killed after their pickup truck rolled over after being struck by a 2009 Toyota Matrix, Massachusetts State Police said.  The crash was reported just before Exit 24 on the morning of Saturday, July 30, according to a Tweet from MassDOT. Fire At Table Talk Pies Bakery In Worcester A fire at TableTalk Pies is filling Kelley Square with thick smoke as fire officials ask people to avoid the area. The fire appears to have been knocked down fairly quickly, but the area is still filled with black smog. On Wednesday, around 1 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire at the sweets factory in Worcester. The exit ramps at 13 on I-290 - east and westbound - have been closed due to the fire, MassDOT said at 1:30 p.m. MassLive is reporting the fire started in an oven.
