9 Residents From Region Nabbed Patronizing Prostitutes During Sting, Police Say Nine Connecticut residents were nabbed for allegedly attempting to purchase prostitutes during a sting operation. The sting took place in Hartford on Thursday, Dec. 7 in the Wethersfield and Franklin avenues area. After receiving numerous complaints from citizens and business owners in the Wethersfield Avenue and Franklin Avenue areas concerning prostitution, the Hartford Police Vice and Narcotics Division, Street Crimes Unit, and South Community Service officers conducted an operation to address the activity, said Lt. Woman Dies From Injuries In Shooting Over Dog In Region, Police Say A Connecticut woman who was shot during a dispute between neighbors over a dog that left two others dead has died from her injuries. Nikia Rankins, age 27, of Hartford, died on Friday, July 1 from injuries incurred during the incident on Sunday, June 19. Rankins was found shot when police responded to a report of gunfire at a multi-family home on Franklin Avenue and located three unresponsive victims with gunshot wounds, said Lt. Hartford resident Maico Turell, age 49, was sentenced to 30 months, or 2.5 years, behind bars Tuesday, May 24, in federal court in Hartford. Undercover police busted Turell in December 2020 when he sold them “distribution quantities” of heroin and fentanyl on two seperate occasions at his Franklin Avenue home, according to the US Attorney’s Office in Connecticut. Woman Struck, Killed By Car Near Intersection In Region A Connecticut woman crossing a busy roadway was hit and killed by a vehicle. Yarillis Esteras, age 43, of Hartford, was hit around 11:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 8 in the area of Franklin Avenue and Bliss Stree in Hartford. According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert, of the Hartford Police, when officers arrived on the scene they found Esteras had been struck by a vehicle and was critically injured.
