Ashburnham Woman Seriously Injured In Head-On Collision In Eastern Mass
Two people are recovering from serious injuries following a head-on crash in the region. The Middlesex County wreck happened shortly after 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, in Ashby on Turnpike Road. Ashby Police said a 2003 Cadillac Escalade was driving westbound near Greenville Road when it crossed the centerline and struck a Ford pickup truck head-on. The impact left a 43-year-old Ashburnham woman trapped in the Escalade and a 58-year-old Townsend man stuck in the pickup truck. Husband Accused Of Shooting Wife In Gardner Eludes Capture For 4th Day; DA Files Murder Warrant
It's been four days since a Worcester County mother of four was found shot to death in her bedroom on Sunday, Oct. 25. It's also been four days since her husband was last seen, but police believe they are closing in on him. Aaron Pennington, 33, is believed to be somewhere in the 400 acres of wood at Camp Collier in Gardner near the Ashburnham border, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office said. Police said a standoff near Cushing Academy in Ashburnham Thursday morning, March 30, ended peacefully after a suspect who led officers on a chase locked himself in his truck near the Worcester County school and refused to come, Massachusetts State Police said. The driver's name was not released. The chase began in Winchendon after the driver assaulted an officer and sped away, authorities said. A missing 17-year-old girl from North Central Massachusetts was reportedly seen in her neighboring town this week, according to local authorities said. Jillian Clark, who has been missing from Fitchburg since May 21, was potentially seen in Ashburnham at Alltown over the past few days, Ashburnham Police said on Facebook. The Ashburnham-Westminster School District is going fully remote following news of COVID-19 infections within the school community. COVID-19 positive test rates are down in most Worcester County communities - including the City of Worcester, which had its fourth straight week of declining cases, according to the most recent state information available.
