Sutton Kid's Magician Gets 6 Years For Smuggling Child Porn Into US: Feds

A Worcester County, Massachusetts, magician who has performed in the area for 20 years was sentenced Thursday, March 28, to six years behind bars for having child sexual abuse material in his luggage after returning from an overseas flight, authorities said.

Scott Jameson, age 47, of Sutton, pleaded guilty in November 2023 to illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place and one count of transportation of child pornography, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. He had faced potentially decades in prison for the charges.

Action Pour Les Enfants, a Cambodian child-protection group, contacted US federal investigators in February 2022 to allege that Jameson had engaged in unsuitable behavior with minors in that country, the prosecutor said.

The group alleged someone saw him acting improperly with a boy at a park. Several boys reported to the group that Jameson slept with them in bed on multiple occasions, but they didn't note any sexual contact, federal officials said.

He returned to Cambodia later that year. When he returned to the United States, Customs agents at Boston Logan International Airport searched his bags and found a video that featured a young boy's genitals and a hard drive with more than 100 images of child sexual abuse material, the prosecutor said.

FBI Special Agent Jodi Cohen In charge of the Boston Division called Jameson a "predator with a passport."

This predator with a passport traveled halfway around the world and engaged in illicit sexual conduct with a child and then brought back home evidence of that sexual abuse so he could relive it for his own sick gratification. Child sexual exploitation is abhorrent anywhere it occurs, and the FBI will continue to go after Americans who travel abroad for that purpose. We’re determined to bring them to justice for the damage they’ve done and prevent them from victimizing anyone else’s child.

Jameson told investigators he's worked as a magician for two decades at private parties, libraries, and family events across New England. His act was geared toward children of kindergarten age to eighth grade, police said.
