The driver hit another car into the median, caused heavy damage and seriously injured the 61-year-old female driver from Longmeadow, State Police report. This happened on I-91 North just past the MGM Casino around 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, police added.

The trailer sustained damage to its passenger side fuel tank side and caused a large fuel spill on the highway and neighboring land. The incident sparked an "extensive cleanup" that lasted about three hours, closed two lanes and caused heavy traffic in the area, police said.

The truck was said to be pulling a white or silver trailer, police said. A description of the cab was undetermined, but police believe the passenger's side and fuel tank were damaged in the crash.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call State Police-Springfield Barracks at 413-736-8390.
