Man Found Shot Dead In Springfield ID'd As 49-Year-Old

A 49-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a shooting on Friday, May 10, in Springfield, authorities announced.

Gustavo Cartagena, of Springfield, was found shot in the 60 block of Locust Street just after 1:35 a.m. after police were called to the area for reports of gunshots, Springfield police said.

Cartagena was dead when officers arrived.

Police are investigating the slaying.
