Roman Holguin is charged with murder in the shooting of a woman found on Riverdale Road.
Original: Police in Hampden County are investigating after a woman was shot and killed on Wednesday morning, April 3.
The shooting happened around 10:45 a.m. in the 500 block of Riverdale Road in West Springfield, police said. Officers were called to the area for a report of a disturbance.
When they arrived, they found a woman bleeding from a gunshot wound in a parking lot. Paramedics rushed her to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where she died of her wounds.
The woman's name was not released as police are notifying her next of kin.
Police say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
