Western Mass Train Fire 'Suspicious,' 'Very Fortunate No One Was Injured': Investigators
State fire investigators are asking for the public's help to gather more information about a "suspicious" train fire Tuesday night, Aug. 16, in Hampden County, where a door was pried open. Firefighters in Westfield were called to the area behind181 Notre Dame St. just after 6:45 p.m. and found the train car engulfed in flames. Crews were able to put out the blaze, but all of the contents inside were destroyed, state fire investigators said. A Dozen Displaced, Two Dogs Rescued After Western Mass House Fire
A fire at a Western Massachusetts four-family unit home left 12 people and two dogs homeless. The fire broke out in Hampden County around 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 19, on Union Avenue in Westfield, said Deputy Chief Andrew Hart of the Westfield Fire Department. The fire started in one unit which received the most damage, but the other three units received smoke and water damage, Hart said. Two dogs were rescued by firefighters during the incident. No one was injured during the incident, Hart said. The Red Cross was called to offer assistance to the families and animals.

Western Mass Firefighter Accused Of Enticing Child
A 42-year-old working as a firefighter and paramedic in Western Massachusetts was busted attempting to sexually entice someone he thought was a teenage girl from his work computer, though it was actually an undercover police investigator, officials announced. Richard Paul, of Westfield, was arrested this week and placed on administrative leave after being accused of sending sexually suggestive and explicit messages to an officer posing as a 13-year-old girl.
