1 Seriously Injured In Crash On I-691 In Region, State Police Say A section of I-691 West was shut down in Connecticut following a two-car crash with one person seriously injured. The crash took place in Hartford County around 6:45 a.m. in Southington near Exit 4. According to state police, a 42-year-old Meriden man driving a 2008 Kia Rio was stopped or traveling slowly due to tire damage from a previous collision when the car was hit from behind by a 49-year-old Meriden man driving a Nissan Pathfinder. Woman From Region Among 2 Hospitalized After Serious Crash State police are seeking witnesses to a serious injury Fairfield County crash that left a man and woman hospitalized. The crash took place around 8:20 p.m., Monday, Aug. 15 in Shelton. According to state police, a Toyota RAV4 was traveling in the right lane of two on Route 8 southbound with a Honda motorcycle following directly behind approximately one-quarter of a mile north of Exit 12.  The crash occurred when the motorcycle collided with the rear of the Toyota, sending the motorcyclist flying off the vehicle and landing on the right shoulder, police said.
