Family Dog Killed In Central Mass Fire; Blaze Under Investigation A fire in Worcester County earlier this week nearly destroyed a home and killed a family dog, authorities said.  Fire crews responded to the blaze just before 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, at 1075 Dana Road in Barre after a neighbor saw smoke pouring from the home's second floor and called 911, the Barre Fire Department said.  Firefighters burst through the front door and were met by "heavy fire," the report said. $1 Million Winning Lottery Ticket Sold In Rutland A Central Massachusetts man has won a $1 million prize through the Massachusetts State Lottery. On Monday, Jan. 25, the state lottery announced that a winning $1 million “Diamond Millions” ticket had been sold and the prize claimed by Lawrence Josti III, of Rutland. Josti won the $30 ticket’s grand prize. The ticket was purchased at Rutland Marketplace, 26 Pommogusset Road, in Rutland. The store will get a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
