Man Who Shot Mass Trooper During Fight In Springfield Gets 15 Years: DA A Springfield man who shot a Massachusetts state trooper on New Year's Eve 2020 will spend the next 12 to 15 years behind bars, a judge ruled on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Christopher Gardner, 34, was accused of shooting the state trooper around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2020. Duo Nabbed After Shooting In Western Mass Two men were arrested following an alleged assault and shooting in Western Massachusetts. Hampden County residents Mario Santiago, age 31, of Chicopee, and Josiah Finlay, age 27, of Springfield, were arrested around 1:45 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 12, after police responded to a report of shots fired in Springfield. According to Ryan Walsh, spokesman for the Springfield Police, when officers arrived in the 400 block of Albany Street, they located two victims.  One victim was punched. Suspect Nabbed For Opening Fire Outside CT State Capitol Police arrested a man on charges he fired gunshots into Connecticut's Capitol building in Hartford over Memorial Day weekend. Hartford County resident Floyd Gollnick, age 74, of Southington, was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 24, for Capitol shooting, although he already was being held on charges from similar incidents in the area on the night of Sunday, May 30, said the Connecticut State Police.
